Estimator

The functional responsibility of this position is to serve as the point of contact for the Sales team estimating bridge fabrication, maintenance, and tunnel product opportunities, as well as executing all project takeoffs. This role will also manage product approvals and work closely with DOT offices to ensure applicable product offerings are included on appropriate product lists. This position will also be responsible for reviewing and analyzing contract plans, specifications, and other documentation to accurately prepare cost estimates and quotations. Preparing estimates includes calculation of materials, engineering time, shop labor, subcontract scope if required, and shipping and handling. This position will work cross-functionally in providing Sales analytical data on market pricing, working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to understand internal capabilities, and partnering with Procurement to obtain subcontracted material and labor pricing with lead times.

Qualifications: Formula for Success

This is a high-level overview of the role we need you to fill for us:

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or related discipline; Bachelor’s degree in a similar field is preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years’ related experience is required; experience in the commercial construction industry is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel. Previous experience using SAP to create estimates and quotations is a plus.
  • A thorough understanding of contract documents, with ability to independently act and respond to commercial and technical inquiries.
  • Strong technical aptitude to provide technical support and product recommendations in support of sector growth opportunities and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, including active listening skills with internal and external customers; ability to collaborate with various departments to coordinate estimates, and ability to develop partnerships with customers on project-specific opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and objectives simultaneously; provide accurate information and deliverables on time.
  • Demonstrate initiative, take ownership of the process, and drive continual improvement.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce.com and Procore a plus.
  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
