Watson Bowman Acme’s Bridge team is hard at work in California’s city of San Rafael.
Specifically focused on the the San Rafael Viaduct, which is a heavily trafficked thoroughfare made up of three long-span prestressed concrete box girder bridges that were built in 1965 and heavily retrofit in 1993.
Regional Sales Manager Chris Smyth won the sizeable contract to supply the Viaduct project with the highly capable Wabo®TransFlex system. TransFlex is a steel-reinforced elastomeric molded rubber expansion joint system. Easily installed, all sections feature tongue-and-groove fittings for tight end-to-end mating across decks and at curbs.
The system will accommodate anticipated thermal movements and loading requirements of the structure, reject debris, and create a level, smooth-riding, wear-resistant surface for long service life.
